If you’re anything like us, you cannot get enough of the Obamas; their intellect, their swag, their humor, their politics (mostly). Good news! The New York Times has reported that we will be seeing more of this incredible couple via Netflix. According to the report, the Obamas are in their final stages of a deal that will have them producing shows about inspirational stories that are of importance to them.
The proposed deal will give Netflix exclusive rights to shows produced by Barack and Michelle. Although the report does not have details about the number of episodes or the format of the shows, it is clear on what the shows will not be: a response to the critics of Obama. The shows will not be used by the former president as a means to respond to the current president or other media giants on the right.
Speaking of the project, Eric Schultz, a senior adviser to President Obama, said “President and Mrs. Obama have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire. Throughout their lives, they have lifted up stories of people whose efforts to make a difference are quietly changing the world for the better. As they consider their future personal plans, they will continue to explore new ways to help others tell and shore their stories.”
The proposed project will not be President Obama’s first appearance on Netflix. He appeared as a guest in the first episode of David Letterman’s Netflix show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” back in January. According to the report, other streaming services such as Apple and Amazon have also expressed interest in working with Mr. Obama to create exclusive contents.
We are eagerly awaiting for more details on these shows that we will happily add to our Netflix list.
